Coaster - handmade walnut, rippled surface
Tomokazu FuruiThe beautiful rippled surface of this handmade coaster is created by the Japanese woodworker Tomokazu Furui.
The hand carved ripples enhance the elegance of the walnut timber used to make the coaster. The surface is double coated with a penetrating coat, then vegetable oil finished in order to improve the coaster's strength and durability.
While the surface has an overall smooth texture, the rippled surface creates a secure grip on the cup or glass on top of the coaster. The dark walnut color coordinates well with a wide range of tea cups, coffee mugs and drinking glasses.
Mr Tomokazu carefully chooses the right materials and the correct part of the tree for his products. These careful choices enable the coaster to be used for a long time.
Please note that while one of the photos shows a pair of coasters, this coaster is sold singly, not as a pair.
