Japanese small bowl - handcrafted in cherry birch
Tomokazu FuruiThis small round bowl is beautifully carved by Japanese woodworker Tomokazu Furui.
The bowl's surface is hand carved to a state of beautiful smoothness. The Japanese cherry birch wood gives it a simple and elegant look. The surface is protected by two coatings. Both coatings are vegetable oil layers which improve the bowl's strength and durability.
The grain of the wood brings a natural warmth to your dining table. The bowl is the perfect size for small servings of rice or soup (*), or kid-sized serves. The bowl communicates softness in many different ways, from its soft, warm color to its softly rounded shape.
This bowl is also available in a larger size, in cherry wood. Buy both bowls to have a stylish, matched pair.
Mr Tomokazu carefully chooses the right materials and the correct part of the tree for his products. These careful choices enable the bowl to be used for a long time.
(*) When the bowl is used as a soup bowl, the centre of the bowl may warp slightly due to moisture. This is a natural transformation of a handmade product made from living materials.
